Title: Interference with USB instruments
Post by Planter on Jul 23rd, 2012, 12:33pm
I spent a long weekend trying to debug the USB IVI VISA link between my PC and an Agilent waveform generator.  I ensured USB For Remote Desktop was not remoting the port or device.  Only when I uninstalled USB for Remote Desktop was I able to get the IVI USB link working.  This is unfortunate, because I need URD to run hardware-keyed software remotely.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this with USB for Remote Desktop installed?

Thanks

Hello Mike,

I need more information. Please answer the following questions:

1. After you installed USB for Remote Desktop USB IVI VISA lost connection with generator. Right?
2. Does these device work via Bluetooth connection?
3. Can you please provide me with a link on these devices in the Internet?
4. USB IVI VISA was not shared. Correct?
5. USB IVI VISA was displayed correctly in the device manager?

Thanks.

I only started using the Agilent 33522A arbitrary waveform generator recently.  USB for Remote Desktop has been installed for some time.

The device works over GPIB, TCP-IP or USB, but not Bluetooth.

Here's the device:
http://www.home.agilent.com/agilent/product.jspx?nid=-536902257.940639.00&lc=eng&cc=US

I install these drivers, and use Windows 7, 64-bit

1. IVI shared components
http://www.ivifoundation.org/shared_components/Default.aspx

2. Agilent IO library suite
http://aaa.product.agilent.com/IOLibraries/Download_IO_Libraries.aspx

3. 33522a IVI driver
http://www.home.agilent.com/agilent/editorial.jspx?ckey=1937336&id=1937336&nid=-536902257.940638&lc=eng&cc=US

The device showed up in the device manager as a USB measurement instrument, and the driver was identified as an IVI driver.  I verified that the device was not shared through USB for remote desktop.

Thanks

Mike, please check your mailbox. I will send you the link for downloading previous version of USB for Remote Desktop (v 2.9.3). It uses another driver and another redirecting technology. Try and let me know the result.
