Title: USB client disconnect from Server Post by AndyNguyen on Feb 14th, 2010, 11:16pm Dear All, I have license for sharing 02 USB devices on USB over Network version 4.3 and configured as following: - One HASP dongle plugged in to one USB port, sharing and connecting to one server - One UsB dongle key plugged into another USB port, sharing and connecting to a second server After running for few days clients can't connect to server (the shared device stated Not Shared when log on to client machine).I'm unable to logon to machine where USBoverNetwork (server) installed, the screen is frozen and only option I can do is restart the machine. Once restarting, everything is coming back to normal. USB over Network (Server) is running on a Windows XP SP2 PC with 768MB RAM. Is it sufficient for the memory to run USB over Network (Server) and sharing 02 devices to 02 remote machines? Thanks Andy Nguyen |

Title: Re: USB client disconnect from Server Post by jonhelland on Feb 15th, 2010, 12:42pm Andy, Why don't you write up a batch file to restart the computer and tell the windows scheduler to run it once daily? On another note, regarding your "screen freezing" issues, are you connecting to the computer using remote desktop? is the computer located in another physical location, like a WAN? I have this issue happen frequently and my fix is to log in to RDP using a different user, which bumps the current user off. |

Title: Re: USB client disconnect from Server Post by AndyNguyen on Feb 15th, 2010, 2:22pm Set up a scheduled task to restart PC daily is a last resort I think of, I'd like to know what caused the problem? Is it caused by XP itself or memory leak in UON Server, because Event log reported there is not enough page file at the time UON server stop sharing USB devices and I received reported from users about they unable to use their program (because the program using Alladin HASP dongle key for licensing). I installed the new version of UON on Server and keep monitoring it to see whether problem still persists. |

Title: Re: USB client disconnect from Server Post by wdmaster on Mar 4th, 2010, 12:57am I have installed the new version of the UON and error has been removed successfully, but when I have installed new client I have received BSOD. Definitively I have installed UON server 4.4 beta and 4.3 client. I will watch for errors... ::) |

Title: Re: USB client disconnect from Server Post by Alex_Webster on Mar 4th, 2010, 2:12am You did upgrade the Client machine to the version 4.4, did not you? Anyway we need the kernel memory dump and system info for analysis. Please follow my instructions: 1) Go to the System Properties ("Windows + Break" buttons on the keyboard) 2) Open "Advanced" tab 3) In the "Startup and Recovery" section press "Settings" button 4) Here you can see "Write debugging information" section. You must choose "Kernel memory dump" and remember the path to the file - MEMORY.DMP By default it's "%SystemRoot%\MEMORY.DMP" 5) Reproduce the BSOD once again 6) Go to the windows root folder and find that file: "Windows/MEMORY.DMP" 7) Zip this file and upload it to our FTP server (check your PM). SysInfo: Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Information -> File -> Save |
