Svr license expired, can't connect to USB device.

On the client software I am getting the error:
Cannot connect this USB device due to server license limitations.

On the "Buy USB over Network" page (http://www.usb-over-network.com/usb-over-network-purchase.html) in the description of Update Subscription it states:

As a licensed user you obtain the right to download free software updates within 12 months from the date of your purchase. This includes both minor and major updates.

After this period expires you can either continue using your last updated version for unlimited time, or renew your Update Subscription. Once you renew it, you'll be able to use newer versions and software updates that are released within the specified period of time.

Why did my software stop working when the license expired? I should not get this error because I am not trying to get an updated version. I moved to 5.0 before the license expired (on 9/1/2013).

The other problem is that my purchase was on 1/31/2013, so my license should not have expired for another 5 months.
