4.7.3 client cannot connect to 4.7.2 server (???)

I am having issues with a USB over Network Client (version 4.7.3 for Windows) connecting to a USB over Network Server (version 4.7.2 for Linux).

I currently have a USB headset shared via using the control utility (and the daemon is currently running)...

example@localhost:/opt/ftusbnet/bin$ sudo ./ftusbnetctl list
Id VID: PID: REV  Location  Device name and status
 603046d:0a0c:1013  6-2  Logitech USB Headset /Shared/

I currently have the USB over Network Server running in trial mode, but I don't think that should matter.

Can you describe the issue in more detail? You can share the device on the Server side and what's happening on the Client side?

The client on the Windows side of things will not detect the server no matter if I use the hostname or the raw IP address (of the server).  I did upgrade the client on Windows from 3.5 to 4.7 when I started trying to get this to work since I figured (from previous experiences) I needed to be closely matched on versions to be compatible.

Some useful info for the OSes with installed software;

USB over Network Server (4.7.2): Ubuntu 12.04 (Linux kernel: 3.2.0-24-generic-pae)
USB over Network Client (4.7.3): Windows XP Professional SP3

NOTE: I can successfully ping the the server from the client.

Speaking about the above log, did you try to connect to the Server from the Client? The log doesn't show this, so if you did then most probably the issue was caused by the firewall on the local machine or the remote one.

Mike, good question to ask... I actually checked it yesterday before even bugging you guys.  Anyways, I discovered this morning while Googling that the Gufw (GUI for ufw) has a bug where it does not show the firewall status correctly: http://askubuntu.com/questions/133085/is-the-firewall-active-or-not

Anyways, did what they said to do from the commandline...

example@localhost:~$ sudo ufw status
Status: active
example@localhost:~$ sudo ufw disable
Firewall stopped and disabled on system startup
example@localhost:~$ sudo ufw status
Status: inactive

So now it is working as expected.  Thanks for pointing me back to the firewall for troubleshooting.

Nice to hear it works fine now. Let me know if you'd like to update your licenses. You can email me when you decide on this.

Mike,

I'll have to reach out to the person (for my company) who manages that sort of thing.  Thanks again!
