Server 2012 RC / Windows 8 RC

I am looking to start testing Windows 8 and WIndows Server 2012 in our lab environment.  Is there a timeline for support for these versions before RTM of them?  As a company we plan to start moving toward those new platforms (especially Server 2012 Hyper-V sooner than later) and USB virtualization is going to be key for us making that move.

We're going to add the support of Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 as soon as the official versions are released.

Hi,

Final versions of Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 are out since October. When are you planning to release a compatible version of USB over Network?

Will v5 work with existing serial numbers and purchases? or be a paid upgrade?

Depends on the update subscription. We include 1-year update subscription to each order. If the subscription expires you have to purchase another one to be able to update. Otherwise you can get the update for free. BTW I sent you an email some time ago. Did you get it? Are you a registered user?

I installed the new version on my Windows 8 PC (HyperV enabled) but couldn't accomplish a succesfull connection to my virtual machines.

I installed the host version on my Windows 8 machine, shared one of my USB flash drives. Then I installed the client version on a virtual machine based on Windows 7.  But the client side couldn't recognize my host machine at all. I disabled both firewalls (host and guest) to see if it's a port blocking problem, but still no success. I uninstalled USB over Network and installed VMware Workstation because I needed immediate access to USB ports on a virtual machine. If you have any suggestions I'm ready to test again.

As far as I understand from your description "USB over Network(client) showed that Server part was "unreachable". Am I right?

1. Was the version on both sides the same?
2. Was "client" and "server" configured to use the same TCP-port?
3. Do you have any other programs except firewall that can filter network traffic? For example antivirus programs.
4. How your network was configured? Were you able to ping the virtual machine from your local PC?

Yes, you understood correctly.

1) Version 5.0 (the one you sent me via PM)
2) Yes.
3) On the host side Kaspersky Internet Security 2013, which was completely (all protection modules) disabled through the entire process. On the guest side: No firewall, no antivirus/antispyware.
4) Server and client were in the same network. I was able to ping client machine from the host.
