Connection from Business to IP server access.

A Co-worker and I have been using USB over Network to connect remotely to truck electronics.  The program runs fine while we are connecting to a networked PC (10.14.100.206) within the factory we work.  We have done a trial to connect to a dealers laptop to connect to a unit at there shop.  For some reason we have been unable to connect to computers with a remote IP at other locations out of state 192.168-16.118 / 120.  Do you know of a way we can get around this to allow a remote connect outside of the Company Network?

Hello,

If your computers are located in different LANs, you need to make sure that the following steps are taken to establish connection between USB over Network Server and Client:
 - Make sure that TCP port 33000 is opened (not blocked by Firewall) on the computer where USB over Network Server is installed. Note that some Anti-Virus programs might work as Firewalls too;
 - Make sure that TCP port 33000 is forwarded from the external IP of the computer where Server part of the software is installed to this computer. It is necessary to allow this compuer receive incoming connections. (You can configure it in Firewall settings);
 - Check that USB ver Network(Client) and USB over Network(Server) are using the same TCP ports;

All Disabled

Forwarded to TCP port 33000 in both network and firewalls.

 - Check that USB ver Network(Client) and USB over Network(Server) are using the same TCP ports;

Both using 33000.

Still unable to make the connection.

You need to configure port forwarding. It is a Firewall setting. Configuring port forwarding usually depends on individual characteristics of your and remote networks but it always has three main parameters. On your router (network where USB over Network (Server) is installed) you need to set it this way:

Source port - 33000 (our software uses this port by default);
Destination IP - The local IP address of computer where Server part is installed;
Destination port - 33000;

After everything is configured all the incoming packets will be immediately forwarded from router to your computer with USB over Network(Server) and vice versa. You system administrator can help you to set all up. Also make sure that 33000 port is not blocked by your Internet Service Provider.Otherwise change the TCP-port in USB over Network on both sides.
