Android support?

We have several Android phones and tablets that can access our internal company wifi network and VPN from the internet (when traveling or offsite).
And we plan to get many more for our production floors soon (to replace old WINCE devices).

We currently use VNC to access some remote servers that don't have web interfaces for various reasons (although we could use Remote Desktop if necessary).

We would like to be able to access even more services than we can now, but they require using our company badge/smartcard.  We have USB readers for the smartcards on some desktops now.  The Android devices we use support host mode USB so I can plug the tablets and some phones into the reader and I can VNC into the server.

So you see what is missing, right?
Do you plan on supporting or what is necessary to support Android for the server USB to network?  It is a customized Linux kernel, so how does your software work?  Is it a device driver only or is it a large user application?

We are capable of building custom ROMs / kernels for these devices so we can lock them down for production use.

Edit: I guess the Android device would actually be the server since the USB device would be connected to it.

Unfortunately we have no Android support at this point, but we are interested in opening a dialog to discuss the possibility of a custom development for you. I'll send you an email soon.

And yes, Android device in your setup will be a server and the remote server will be a client.
