Something odd

Hey!

Been testing out your maginificent software for a while now and have hit an odd issue. I can connect to and use the usb devices over 2 different wlan connections (1 firewalled / 1 free), also via open 3g connection without any notable issues. Haven't even needed to open ports from the wlan routers or anything.

Now I've tried to make the same simple connection to happen via 3g modem/router (GlobeSurfer III). If both computers (client & server) are using the GS3 (GlobeSurfer III) connection everything works out quite nicely but when I have either client or server computer connect to internet via one of the 2 other wireless connections I can't use the shared usb devices anymore.

And here is the part that strikes to me a bit "odd", I can see all the devices that are shared in the client side. I can connect to them normally, even get the bloody pop-up on the bottom right corner of the screen telling me that a new device has been found, installd etc but I can't access them. Meaning that I can't see the portable hdd anywhere nor can I access a Motec usb device via an interface program that normally grants access to the device.

I have tried
- opening the specified port from the router
- opening different ports and port ranges from router settings and testing them with the usb-over-network software
- tried removing absolutelly all firewalls (from os and from the router)
- tried to assign the computer using the GS3 connection as a dmz host from the router settings
- tested out multiple different vpn softwares (hamachi, openvpn, teamviewer vpn, windows default vpn and gs3's own hardware vpn)

Propably tried few other things too but can't remember them right now from the top of my head.

I'm pretty clueless on what to try next really. Is there some other form of data being transferred between the client that could somehow not make it through the GS3 or something? Anybody ever heard of anything like what I tried to describe there?

Hello Granky.
We are currently trying to reproduce your issues in our lab. Please specify some details  so we can analyze your issues deeply.
-Name of the product you are using
- Version of this product
Please tell us more about these “odd” situations. We would like to know the following:
-OS versions and platforms (32 or 64 bit) of machines where our software is running
-Device models that you tried to share(redirect) Which of them did you manage to share(redirect) and which you didn’t .
-Did it happen when or after you use(d) your wireless connections?
Please try to reproduce these “odd” situations on another two computers if you can.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Looking forward to your reply

I have been sharing / redirecting Motec M800 (http://www.motec.com.au/m800/m800overview/)
which uses software called "M400 M600 M800 M880 ECU Manager V3.52P2"
(downloadable from http://www.motec.com.au/software/latestreleases/) the software comes with USB Drivers for the device which are also separately downloadable from the bottom of the software page linked above (MoTeC USB Driver Package V2.06.00)

I have 2 laptops with Windows 7 starter and 1 laptop & pc with windows xp pro thus 1 minipc with windows 7 starter. All are 32 bit. I have tried various combinations of these while trying to solve the issue (rotate the server/client computer) with no success.

I can share/redirect the device successfully and make it appear on the device software while not using the GS3 wireless connection altogether or while having both computers using the GS3 connection. I _can not_ make the connection happen when either server or client computer is using the gs3 wireless connection and the the other is using some other form of internet connection (have tried regular dsl connection from the wall, 2 different wireless connections in the area).

The problem is 100% reproducable with having only either client OR server computer use GS3 connection as I described above.

One other thing popped in to mind, doubt it has any impact though, that the communication to the Motec device is via can-usb adapter

edit: I can give screenshots of how it looks on the screen in the morning if thats any help
