Unable to share MCE IR Remote Receiver

I'm running the trial version of USB over Network. I want to test some USB software I'm developing on VMs.  I've got two IR devices, a USB-UIRT and an MCE IR Receiver (eHome receiver). I can share the USB-UIRT without problem, but when I click share on the eHome device, it says "eHome Infrared Transceiver - KernelPre USB Device...Problem..." and doesn't work.

Any suggestions?  I can't find any way to get more information, either.

Thanks

Sorry, but we are not Kernel Pro, it is a different company. Most probably you installed their software before you installed ours and that's why it's causing conflicts now.

Try uninstalling Kernel Pro to see if this solves the problem.

Sorry, I saw a post for Hyper-V suggesting either your product or the KernelPro product. I first tried your Remote Desktop version, which gave the "...Problem", then I tried the KernelPro product. I found that I could KernelPro product to work with the USB-UIRT if I disabled the Windows Firewall, so I decided to see if I had any better luck with USB over Network with the Firewall off.

I did a restore of my computer to the previous day's backup (to remove all traces of the programs) and installed just USB over Network.  Still no luck.

The UI, when the device is initially plugged in, says:
"eHome Infrared Transceiver - eHome Infrared Receiver (USBCIR)"

Once I try to share, the UI says:
"Port_#0001.Hub_#0005_Shared USB Device...Problem..."

Not sure if it helps or not, but the MCE IR Receiver is guarded (not sure the right term) by UAC on Vista/Win7.  I tried turning UAC off and running USB over Network as an Administrator but still had no luck.

There's more information at the following link:

stottle,

Did you try to enable auto-sharing for this device?
Generally the ...problem sign means that something else has 'grabbed' the device. by enabling auto sharing you allow USB over Network to grab it before anything else in the system does, so most often this solves the problem.

Nice tip, that did the trick.  I need to run some more tests with UAC and firewall enabled, but at least I know it is possible now.

Thanks!
