Initial connections

I was aroused at the thought of being able to do what the blurb said it did. Spoke to that friendly Mike Thorn, who is pretty helpful, but I reckon is starting to get fed up with me.
I have a setup here that has a home built PC with Vista Ultimate, 9950 quad core phenom processor, and all manner of bits and pieces attached. There are also one Vista Premium laptop (Asus) and a home built PC running XP
Fire wall is enabled in all machines to cope, but I cannot get the satellites to recognise the Network Server. So I have removed the Ultimate machine, from the loop, as it is hard wired to the router, installed the server on the laptop, but still nothing.
Is there anyone out there who will join me in a spot of crying? Cry
