1-wire USB dongle - Dallas Semiconductor

The host OS:
Win 2k3 64 bit running the 64 bit trial version of the USB server software. Also has the 64 bit driver for the USB dongle.

The Virtual Machine OS:
Win 2k3 32 bit running the 32 bit trail version of the USB client software. Has the 32 bit version of the USB dongle.

It appears to connect up ok and show up in the VM as an installed device, but the software program that does the security check against the dongle gives an error that it can't find it.

Any thoughts? Manufacturer of the dongle is Dallas Semiconductor and the dongle is referred to as 1 wire or iButton.

Any help would be appreciated - thanks in advance.

I forgot to mention the VM software was Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 running on the Win 2k3 64 bit OS.

Hello!

Interesting... OK, we are highly interested in resolving that issue. Your help is appreciated.
So, let's check if your dongle works in 64bit<->64bit configuration. Do you have any another 64bit PC? If so if would be great if you can check 64bit<->64bit connection.
If not, let's do that on the same PC. Share the device on 64bit PC, install Client piece there, and connect the device using Client piece. Please let us know the results.
Also, if you could check it in 32-32 configuration, it also would be great.
Hopping to hear from you soon!

Thanks for your quick reply.

Unfortunatly the software that uses the dongle is 32 bit only, so that is why I have to use a virtual machine.

Anything else that you would like me to try? Thanks again.

Hi!
Thanks for prompt reply.
OK, in this case, it that possible to test in 32<->32 configuration? Just want to check if the dongle works over network and the issue is related to 32-to-64 conversion.
Thanks!

Let me see if I can load a configuration like that on another machine and report back to you. Thanks for your help.
