I need to know the operating system (and service packs) that you use, also if it's x32 or x64 and the model of the USB device. Do you have any virtual machines in your environment?

OS is Windows XP SP3, x32bit version.
I tried several USB devices (USB Port, HDI, etc.). All with same error message. No virtual machines.

Please restart USB monitor service:
right click on my computer->manage->applications and services->USB Monitor Pro service

If that doesn't help please restart your machine.

Awaiting your feedback.

Please check your e-mail box for the additional tools and do the following:

1. Save your old USB monitor driver (keep it somewhere, save it). It's in c:\windows\system32\drivers - ftusbmon.sys

2. Replace this old driver by the new one (see attachment);
3. Reboot;
4. Run DbgGui.exe - local mode (see attachment);
5. Restart the Service which will result in getting the Log file
in the debug viewer window.
6. Send this log to support@fabulatech.com

I've got the same problem, except my message is:
"Cannot start monitoring!
Error (1168). Module UsbControlDevice(193)"

It's the same with every USB device. I even tried a hot-plugged device, but the "plug it in now" dialog box never went away.

Machine is Lenovo laptop T61, OS is XP, SP2 & microsoft updates.

jbartas,

As you may have seen above, we also need to know if your OS is 32 or 64 bit.

It's 32 bits, of course.

I tried installing USB Monitor Pro on a desktop machine running the same OS (XP, SP2), and it seems to work just fine. Unfortunately our company has standardized on the Lenovos, so it has to work there if I'm going to use it long-term.

According to Windows device manager the Lenovo has an "Intel(R) ICH8 family USB Universal Host controller".

Hope that helps,

Thanks for the update. The desktop machine is working for my immediate needs. I'll check back in a few weeks to see how things are with the Lenovos.
