hi I am trying to use sound over RDP and it's not working I installed the workstation on my PC (windows 7 sp1 ) and the server on the remoted pc (windows xp sp3) before that in audio tab there were no sound recording ,after installation there is a sound recording device ( Fabulatec RDP audio in ) but the volume and advanced button is grey also the buttons in sound recorder is grey I have read the older posts and nothing is helping also the values in the registry is correctly set and the rdmiclt.dll file is in system32 folder and it is loaded when RDC starts (shown by process Explorer) so please tell me how to make it work
The most probable reason of this issue is that you are using wrong Remote Sound options while starting an RDP session. Go to: Start-> Run -> mstsc.exe -> options -> Local resources tab -> 2 options there If you have server part installed on windows XP machine then set the firts option to "Play sound on remote computer" and the second option to "Do not record"
This should resolve the problem. Let me know the results.
I did what you said but not working and I no not see the relation between setting this option on the targeted PC (winxp ) the Sound over RDP server installed on that PC should do this service not the original remote server is this is a problem related to the sound card type , the sound card on the remoted PC is realtek AC'97 audio the sound card on my PC is Realtek High Definition Audio
