Unable to get Sound over RDP to work

I gave the product a try, but I couldn't get it to work. I wish I could post some screenshots to this forum, but I guess I'll just have to describe my results.

When I brought up Windows Sound Recorder to test recording, the "record" button was disabled (gray). Sound recorder works fine when I connect to the server directly, without going through RDP.

Through RDP, when I open the Audio Properties dialog from Sound Recorder it displays "FabulaTech RDP Audio In" as the default device for sound recording. Under the Windows volume application, however, this device is not listed as one of the mixer devices in it's Properties dialog.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am also seeing this identical issue with the latest version of Sound over RDP, using WinXP professional with latest updates.  Do you need any further diagnostic information to troubleshoot this issue?

Thanks in advance for your attention!

If you are using Windows XP as the server OS, then on the workstation go to the RDP options - local resources - remote computer sound - leave at remote computer

If you are using Windows 2003 as the server OS, on the workstation go to the RDP options - local resources - remote computer sound - bring to this computer

I tried changing the RDP options as sugested.

Now when I login to the RDP session I have no audio devices - playback or microphone.

Are there other steps to do?

I am trying to use skype from the RDP session.

Thanks

Hello Alex,

Could you please tell me what is the operating system on the server and on the workstation (and if it's x32 or x64) and what is the version of Sound over RDP?

While login via RDP can you hear any sound? Did you manage to perform the test with windows sound recorder? Did it work? Were the buttons greyed?

Please describe all your actions step by step.

Hi Alex,

The issue isn't to do with your product, the RDP workstaion is a VMWare instance which doesn't have a sound card - from further research it looks like a dead end.

Thank you for your prompt response.

Sound over RDP allows to do what you need. Have you already tested the trial version? Did it work?

You can describe the whole scenario in your message and send it support@fabulatech.com

Anyway it would be really helpful to find out if you have already tested "Sound over RDP" and if it worked. To pass the mic to your remote desktop you do not have to use "USB for Remote Desktop" product. It is "Sound over RDP" which is designed to do it. Here you may find the online guide which can be really helpful:
