Direct Ports Access Simulation under Windows

Hello!

Suppose you need to run an older DOS-designed software that uses direct COM-ports access under Windows. What do you will to do?

I had reviewed the "Virtual Serial Port Control v2.4" readme, but still uncertain about usefulness in serial port simulation case.

I had no experience with DDK, but shure that this problem is resolvable. I had chosen your company because of your software products set - as it seems, your really know the workarounds and, perhaps, there are several of them.

What do you will suggest to me?
Best regards.

Hi LYI,

Thanks for your question!

So, you need to access physical COM port from old DOS application BUT it cannot be done in Windows due to accessing COM port directly.
If DOS application cannot access physical COM port, it means that it will not be able to access virtual COM port also. So the only solution is to use virtual machine with DOS with configured port mapping.
It's interesting to know if that works for you.
If there are any additional details, please let me know.
Thanks.

P.S. To check how virtual serial ports works with that DOS program, you can use our Virtual Serial Port Kit:
